Ram K. Sharma was visiting scientist in Dr. Buckler's lab from 2010-2011 under IUSSTF Research Fellowship program. Dr. Sharma holds a Scientist position at the Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology, IHBT (CSIR), Palampur, India. His research interests include development and exploitation of various molecular markers technologies for plant diversity evaluation and genetic improvement of crop plants and plantation crops.

His current R&D efforts are focused on training and utilization of next generation sequencing technologies for genome wide SNP identification and GWAS in maize.
